Rise and shine to start another day! Like most of us, I have limited time in my morning routine, AND I tend to slack on getting my greens for the day. Occasionally, I will eat a salad with my lunch or dinner, but that isn’t enough. The saying also goes… an apple a day keeps the doctor away…That’s definitely something we as CF patients want! Avocados too, besides being the hype, they are incredibly nutritious. Recently, I started making a green smoothie with all the goodies I mentioned; spinach/spring mix, apple, and avocado. Along with some coconut water, a scoop of vanilla whey protein, and a package of calorie boosting ScandiShake, this makes a filling, sweet (but not overly sweet) drink. Here it is. Enjoy!
- 1/2 avocado
- 1/2 apple
- Handful of baby spinach/spring mix
- 1/4 – 1/2 cup coconut water
- 1 scoop vanilla whey protein
- 1 package ShandiShake
Ta-da! Of course, there can be substitutions made by either adding different fruits, sometimes I add 1/2 banana as well, or instead of using spinach, use kale.
